What is a WHOIS lookup?

WHOIS is the public record of domain registrations. It shows which registrar a domain was bought through, its registration and expiry dates, its status and the nameservers it uses.

Our tool asks the extension's official RDAP service first and, for extensions without RDAP, connects straight to the registry's WHOIS server. Turkish domains (.com.tr, .net.tr, .org.tr, .tr and the rest) are looked up on the TRABIS WHOIS server.

If the domain is free you'll get a link to register it right away. If it's taken, you can note the expiry date and check back once it lapses.

How to Read the Results

Registrar: The company the domain is managed with. Renewals, transfers and nameserver changes are done in its control panel.
Registration and expiry: A domain that isn't renewed before it expires is suspended first, then deleted and released for anyone to register.
Status: Codes such as "clientTransferProhibited" mean the domain is locked, which is the normal protection against unauthorized transfers.
Nameservers: The servers holding the domain's DNS records. They point to whichever provider runs the website and email.
Contact details: Under GDPR and similar laws, personal data is hidden for most extensions, so the owner's name usually isn't shown.

Is the WHOIS lookup free?

Yes. Look up as many domains as you like, no account needed. There's a per-minute limit to prevent abuse.

Why can't I see who owns the domain?

Under GDPR and similar laws, registrars hide the owner's name, address and contact details. To reach the owner, use the registrar's contact form.

Can I look up .com.tr domains?

Yes. Turkish extensions have been run by TRABIS since 2022; the tool queries TRABIS for .com.tr, .net.tr, .org.tr, .gen.tr and plain .tr domains.

The domain shows as available. Can I register it now?

If the result says it's available you can register it right away. Some extensions require documents or protect trademarks; we check that during the order.

When does an expired domain become available?

It depends on the extension. For .com and similar, there's roughly a 30-day renewal grace period and a 30-day redemption period, then 5 days pending deletion. Only the previous owner can renew it during that time.

How do I transfer my domain to ADVEYER?

Unlock the domain and get the transfer (EPP) code from your current registrar, then start the transfer from the transfer link on our domain page. For most extensions the transfer adds a year to your registration.
